#1 AND 2!!!

Yesterday was a big day for Wild and Free! I was once again the first musher to sign up first for my 5th Straight 1000 Mile Yukon Quest but even bigger news is Kyla (my handler) was right behind me to sign up for her First Quest. Yup Wild and Free will have two teams representing in this years Quest.... and we are fired up about it!!! I told Kyla last spring that the pups were looking really strong and that there was a good chance that she could run the Quest with a "puppy team". At the time she didnt take me very seriously but all summer I kept bringing it up and 3 days ago I told here she would be coming to the signups with me on Sat. (if she wanted...) I think it was a bit of a surprise but a challenge that she is up for. It was a total last minute decision on my part (to sign up on the first day) but an important one. We have the dogs, Kyla definitely has what it takes to run, its just a matter of money and logistics at this point, with a little motivation, I can make that happen!! Signing up on the first day makes it REAL for both Kyla and I and when its real your alot more motivated to make it happen. So there ya have it, with signups out of the way and fall training beginning this week (when the temps drop) Wild and Free has officially kicked off the 2010-11 Season. Stay tuned for major updates to the website and especially to the Dog Pics and Bios. Kyla just finished up taking great pics of all the dogs and I am working on bios. By the first part of Sept. we will have the "Sponsor a Dog" program up and running so make sure to check back and help us make the 2011 season a Success!

So excited for this season! Go Wild and Free!

I met your brother and wife(girlfriend?) today in the San Clemente(Ca.) dog park, with Dory, or sounded like that, one of your dogs. Well with the magic of dogs and a quick conversation, I heard about Eureka Ak. and you. I was interested because as I told them, we just got back from our dream trip of driving all around Alaska. Two months, and made it to Coldfoot, but not all the way to Prudhoe, and while in Fairbanks we stopped at and were fascinated by the Yukon Quest visitor site. We vowed to make it up to one, so now we have the team to root for. Wild and Free. Best of luck, hope we can see you in action. Eileen Sever (the internet can make it a small world!).
